Bee-lievers!

In the first rotation for the new year, the Sunday school students will learn about Bees.  This rotation will start January 8 and the last day of the rotation will be on January 29 with a Bible Buddies lesson.  We will talk about how God created bees for a special purpose.  Bees were all created with an important job to do, just like we were created to do good works.  We will also Bee talking about how we, as Bee-lievers, need to Bee busy telling others about Jesus.  The kids might bee playing games, making Bee snacks, watching a bee video or making a bee craft this month as a reminder that we can learn a lot from bees.

Light of the World!

During our December rotation, we talked about how Jesus is the light of the world.  We talked about how a Lightning Bug can be a great reminder of this.  Lightning bugs also remind us that we too can be the light of the world by focusing on Jesus and sharing the Good News of Christmas with others.

Watoto Children’s Choir concert Saturday, March 10th.  The Watoto Children’s Choirs have travelled internationally since 1994 as advocates for the estimated 50 million children in Africa, orphaned as a result of HIV/AIDS, war, poverty and disease.  Accompanied by a team of adults, the choir presents Watoto’s vision and mission through their stories, music and dance. Watoto choirs act as ambassadors to raise awareness about the plight of the orphaned and vulnerable children of Africa. Volunteers are needed to help with the concert and housing arrangements, contact Pr. Ebassa if you can help.

Youth Encounter and Kids Against Hunger April 13-15, 2012.  FLY will be hosting a Youth Encounter performance team as well as sponsoring a Kids Against Hunger packaging event April 13-15. Youth Encounter is charitable organization that partners with Christian communities to strengthen their youth ministry particularly by sending Traveling music ministry teams across the country to perform in local congregations.  Youth Encounter has also partnered with Kids Against Hunger to provide highly nutritious, life-saving meals for starving children at home and around the world for just $0.25 a meal! Kids Against Hunger’s goal is to eradicate world hunger.  It tries to achieve this goal by having volunteers package highly nutritious, vitamin-fortified soy-rice casserole by volunteers at numerous locations within the USA and Canada. Since 2009, volunteers at Kids Against Hunger’s food packaging centers have packaged over 48 million meals for children and their families around the world and around the corner.  In order to keep the cost low, a bulk of 6000.00 meals are packaged at time and the cost is $1,500.00.  If you want to make a big impact and difference to children who are in dire need of nutritious meals here in our country and around the globe, this is the perfect opportunity for you.  We will be need at least 50 volunteers to package the meals, and we can also use donations to offset the cost!  For more information or to volunteer, please contact  pastorebassa@faithcrco.org or 303-688-3476!

We offer Sunday School for PreK-6 graders September through May.
We have a bible presentation for 3rd graders in the fall of the Sunday School year.
4th graders receive Communion instruction and celebrate their 1st Communion in the spring of the Sunday School year.
5th & 6th Graders receive acolyte training and are asked to volunteer as acolytes during worship services.

First Communion

Faith believes all baptized believers in Christ are welcome to the Lords’ table.  Communion instruction formally begins with the pastor instructing 4th graders about communion during the Lenten season. However, a child younger than 4th grade may commune if 3 criteria are met:

  • The child expresses a sincere interest in receiving the sacrament.
  • The parents agree to the child's request.
  • The pastor meets with the child (and/or parents) to verify the child's sincere request.

Many children come to our congregation already receiving communion prior to 4th grade.  We do not make the child stop taking communion but simply ask that the pastor be informed of the situation.
