Worship With All That You Are!
My sophomore year of college, during a leadership retreat, I worshiped in a way I will never forget. It had nothing to do with the musician’s talent or the music that was chosen, it was the experience the worship leader provided. This experience was to challenge us to think differently about worship, to help us move beyond some of our preconceived ideas of what worship is. Often I believe we lose track of what worship is about. We start thinking about how a certain song will bless us instead of how that song will be praising God. I always hear people saying “I don’t like that contemporary music” or “I don’t like hymns”. It seems over the years worship has become more about us than about God. It is positive for a song to resonate and be pleasing to us, but we so easily forget that the whole reason we worship is to worship Christ and bring glory to God, not to strive to meet our selfish needs. What the worship leader did, helped me to learn this point.
During worship one night the leader asked us to follow his promptings throughout the song. As we started worship he was singing and playing the guitar and we were singing along with him. A bit into the song he asked a question, “How would you worship God if there was no music?” and then the music stops but the people continued to sing. Further into the song he said, “How would you worship God if you had no voice?” and the singing stopped, hands were raised and people were dancing. We continued, “How would you worship God if you had no hands or feet?” and people got to their knees. And this continued until he took away all the ways we worship God except one, to worship God with our hearts. Slowly he reversed his questions and started to bring things back one by one. As they came back we were shown the beauty of worshiping God with our whole self; our heart and all the gifts, talents, and abilities we have been given. When all the ways we worship God were back, we were worshiping God in ways we never imagined.
The leader invited us to exit our comfort zone, to rid ourselves of distractions, pride, and selfishness to show us the real meaning of worship. Worship is our response to God for the love and grace he has poured out upon us. Our ability to sing, to play an instrument, or even to stand or lift our hands is a gift from God. Let’s strive to not get caught up in the non essentials (i.e. style of music) but focus on bringing glory to God and to worship him with our whole selves. A professor and pastor once told me it is not a question of if we like the worship, it is a question of did the worship glorify Christ. Go and strive to glorify Christ in all you do and worship him with all that you are!
May God’s Grace and Peace be with you!

As Students head back to college we are preparing to send college care packages. At this point we are trying to get all the colleges student’s addresses, so if you could please email your son’s or daughter’s address to youth@faithcrco.org that would be greatly appreciated.
Urban Plunge: October 15th – 17th
FLY and Confirmation will be doing a weekend Urban Plunge mission trip. Urban Plunge helps you to learn about poverty and other urban issues, serve in the Denver community, and reflect on what the Gospel’s call to service means to you. This is going to be a great weekend. Cost is $70 which includes a non refundable deposit of $35 dollars due by September 26th. The Remaining $35 dollars will be due that day of the trip.
WaterWorld
August 4th 30 youth and 7 leaders along with other churches from the ELCA and PCUSA ventured to WaterWorld. With all the churches combined we had about 195 people! Because we combined with other churches we were able to get tickets for only $30 which included admission, a covered eating area, and a catered lunch. The weather was good, the food was great, and the fellowship we had with our group and other groups was amazing. The best part was right when we were to leave the rain started to pour which stranded us under our shelter until it stopped. When the rain stopped, WaterWorld issued rain checks to all that saved their tickets! Big Thanks goes to all our leaders and drivers! Thanks for investing time in our youth!
Back to School BBQ
The fun of summer was slowly winding down and school was beginning… and that meant a party celebrating the summer! The annual Back to School BBQ was a blast! We had such a good time hanging out at the pool, eating hotdogs and brats, and having a Zumba dance party! It seemed that all had a good night full of laughter and fun! To our youth: As you head back to school, I pray for a wonderful year and that God will work in marvelous ways in your life! I also pray that as you walk the halls of your school you would be a shining light for Christ to all who come in contact with you! You are all amazing children of God and I pray God’s richest blessings on you as you begin school.
SCHOLARSHIP AWARD WINNERS ANNOUNCED
The Faith Endowment Foundation is pleased to announce the recipients of college scholarships for the upcoming school year. Congratulations go to ERIN BURNS, SIERRA EVANS, MACKENZIE JOHNSON, LOGAN LENZ AND OLIVIA QUIMBY. Each individual will receive $300 to be used at the college of their choosing. These awards will be handed out at the worship services on Sunday July 11th. Congratulations to each of you and good luck in your studies!
The Faith Endowment Foundation was established through the generosity of our former member, Helena Ludvigsen, remembering Faith in her will back in 1999. Since then, many more members have made contributions to the foundation and the proceeds of our annual fall golf tournament have helped grow this fund. Due to this ongoing generosity The Foundation was still able to award scholarships this year despite the performance of the stock market.
FLY SUMMER TRIP
The week of July 18th – 23rd, 9 youth (Kaity Lewis, Sam Petersen, Erin Burns, David Becker, Daniel Becker, Weston Iannone, Brady Overstreet, Will Stopps, and Eric Stopps) and 3 Leaders (Nathan Heimer, Brian Stopps, and Mindy Heimer) ventured up the mountains to Lake City, Colorado to spend a week with Camp RedCloud. RedCloud used many different avenues to help our group to be challenged physically, mentally, and spiritually. We spent the week doing four different activities: high and low ropes course, rock climbing, hiking a 14er, and rafting. Each day also had a theme that was integrated into all we did from quiet time and evening lessons to all the activities during the day. The themes consisted of Love, Trust, Perseverance, and Faith. This week was a great opportunity for all of us to experience God’s creation as we challenged ourselves to grow in our Faith!
Bowling and Laser-tag
On July 9th FLY and Confirmation took a trip to the Brunswick Zone to bowl and play some laser-tag. The scrumptious appetizers and unlimited pop made for an exciting and fun time of fellowship. I would like to say thanks to Lori Lewis, Tom Overstreet, Mindy Heimer, and Jessica Bejot for driving and hanging out with our youth!
.
Thank you to all that supported the youth! Whether you came to Chick-Fil-A, Boulevard Pizza, Chili’s or any combination of these, we hope you
enjoyed the food and we greatly appreciate your support to help the youth attend the summer trip. We raised $300. We are so excited to go and can’t wait for the week to arrive! A big thanks goes to Dianne Iannone for setting up the fundraisers at each restaurant.
Yard Sale
We would like to thank everyone who contributed to our yard sale with donations. Your contributions are greatly appreciated. A big thank you goes out to the adults who helped Royce Stein, Elsie Schwecke, Mindy Heimer, Tom Overstreet and the youth that served Britta Strom, Sam Petersen, Weston Iannone, David Becker, Daniel Becker, Makell Overstreet, and Brady Overstreet. Without your assistance this fundraiser would not have been the success it was, we raised $1300.00.
30 Hour Famine
This year’s 30 Hour Famine was a total success! All the youth from the four different churches who participated made it through all 30 hours of fasting and had a fun time serving God. We did different service projects around town including painting, yard work, preparing food, and a whole bunch of cleaning! We raised $522 that will be given to World Vision to help relieve world hunger. The government will be given a matching grant up to ten times the amount we raised! A big thanks goes out to Carl Kopp, Royce Stein, Mindy Heimer, Jessica Bejot, and Tom Overstreet for hanging out with the students and for all your hard work!!
Faith Youth Annual Ski Trip
This year’s Ski Trip was a BLAST! Or as some students would say, it was “gnar gnar!”(short for gnarly). We had fresh snow to ski on and new friends to ride with. There was even a race or two down a 2 mile run called Ute. After a hard day of shredding the fresh pow, we spent a relaxing evening in the Hot Springs! Everyone’s legs were sore the next day, but we were thankful to God for holding the huge boulders from falling onto the highway until after we made it safely through the canyon. Everyone had a great weekend as we discussed how we can bring our ‘Mountain Top Experiences’ down the mountain. I would like to say a big thank you to Brad and Leanne Becker, Brian Stopps, and Mindy Heimer for driving and spending a weekend with our youth.
The Rock & Worship Roadshow
The Rock and Worship Roadshow turned out to be exactly that! We had a blast seeing bands like Mercy Me, David Crowder Band, Family Force 5, and Sidewalk Prophets, to name a few. We had a great time dancing around while worshiping our Lord. This was an incredible concert and was such a blessing that it was only $10!
