FAITH WITH VISION RESULTS

In the fall of 2011 the Evangelism Team conducted a survey that asked for the congregation to evaluate the ministries of Faith Lutheran as a means to ensure that the church was meeting the needs of the congregation.  It took some time but we are pleased to share the results gained from your input. The evangelism team would like to thank responding members for your time and honesty in your feedback.  The Evangelism Team would like to think of this process as the beginning of hearing the many voices of Faith Lutheran members. We consider evangelism to be an ever evolving process and look forward to additional feedback in the coming years.

  • Task of the Church

Church members indicated a need to participate in more charitable activities, providing Christian events for people not associated with Faith Lutheran, having more fellowship activities for church members and exploring the opportunities to partner with other churches to provide joint activities.

  • Organizational Characteristics

The congregation indicated that the church has an opportunity for improvement regarding the communication of the ministries, special occasions, and group activities. The congregation also indicated that it was difficult to explain to visitors the benefits of belonging to Faith and how it differs from other area churches.

  • Congregational Identity

The responses in this section were similar to the responses echoed in the previous section. The congregation wanted to be more involved with the local community and develop a process to make visitors feel at home during their initial visits.  The Evangelism Team has discussed both needs and is exploring methods to welcome visitors.

  • Evangelism

The evangelism section of the survey focused on how the church “marketed” its ministries. The overwhelming response was that the church needs to improve its marketing campaign and strategies so that the local communities and potential members can find the church and fully understand our ministries.

  • Music

The overall responses for worship music were positive. However, the survey indicated interest in establishing a youth choir and having them perform throughout the year. The responses reflected a need to provide musical events that would attract non-member and the unchurched community.

  • Ministries

The survey asked questions about the church’s ministries according to age. However, the responses were remarkably similar in all areas. Therefore, the Evangelism Team thought it would be best to collectively report the results. The following areas were identified by the congregation as an opportunity to minister to our members as well as the unchurched.

  • Youth programs that help clarify the  youth’s values and beliefs
  • Programming that focuses on life experiences that are age and family appropriate
  • Programming that encourages the participation of the unchurched in a Christian setting
  • Christian fellowship and hobby activities
  • Outreach and community projects
  • Small groups led by part-time or retired pastors
  • Providing pastoral care

Where Do We Go From Here?

  • How can you help?
  • As previously mentioned the survey is just a starting point.
  • We need your help to identify programs that you are interested in.
  • We need to incorporate your time and talents to help develop and implement a spiritual environment and spiritual programs.
  • Enclosed is a demographic form that provides you with the opportunity to provide family information and allows us to update our records.
  • The Evangelism team is also providing you with the opportunity to identify programs you want implemented.
  • We want to thank you for all your input and time in helping us provide a vibrant Christian spirituality through Faith Lutheran Church.

Thank you to all who helped and contributed to the Starlighting Event this year!  We all had a great time and everyone enjoyed the goody bags!

I'd like to thank the Ladies At Faith Women's Group and the Men's Group for contributing their funds for the goody bags.  I'd also like to thank individual members of our congregation for their very generous donations to support Starlighting as well.

Also, thank you to all the people who signed up and volunteered in our booth:

Elizabeth Scott, Ladea Dante, James and Stephanie Lutter, Chris and Wendy Clements, Robin Remund, Royce and Nina Stein, The VanSicklin Family, Karen and Don Mosel, Dan and Deb Millington.

Thank you to all of you for your support!  Let's make next year even better!
