Summer the Evangelism season

Ever feel overwhelmed by all the hubbub at church during the school year? At Faith Sunday mornings can sometimes be rather hectic. All the various performing groups (Sounds of Faith, Adult Choir, Children’s Choir, Jesus’ Garage Band) try to find space to practice while nearly one hundred kids and adults participating in Sunday School find their spots can make Faith a “happening” place.  But that’s a good thing! Wouldn’t it be horrible to have a church that was empty all the time?
Well... in the summer Faith can sometimes feel empty  but its not.  Its just another opportunity to experience God and church in a new way.  The relaxed atmosphere not just in the laid back looks people wear but also the easy smiles they share is refreshing.  The coffee pots and the goodies hardly ever run out and folks don’t seem to be in such a rush to get out the door.  This is a good thing for our members and for our visitors.
Did you know the majority of folks who are looking for a church home do so in the summer?  While lots of “church shoppers” want to know all about a church’s programs they also want to know what a church is like when it “lets its hair down.”  That’s a good thing for Faith because we have so many relaxed friendly worshippers in our congregation it helps our visitors relax enough to slow down and have a cup of coffee.  Over the years, Faith’s summer slow down has created a “no pressure atmosphere” accompanied by a personal “hello” that has brought many people into our flock .  Jesus would be pleased to see how well our “laid back Lutheran evangelism” works.  Now all we need are more laid back Lutherans on a Sunday morning enjoying their church family’s company and offering a warm hello to strangers.  That laid back hello is simply a warm way of welcoming more people into Christ’s loving arms.

See ya Sunday, Faith’s  Evangelism Team
