September 2010
Will Stopps, Eagle Scout project, as described in August Newsletter, has been coordinated with Tom, Royce, and I, and formally "signed off" by Pr. Mike. Preliminary building activities will be done off site and we would expect to see these results transitioning to our church property during Aug. & Sept. Will is hopeful to have this project completed by end of Sept.
The Fellowship Hall air conditioning unit has been fixed. The rest of the good news on this accomplishment is that the total cost to get up and running was $185 service call, a $48 circuit breaker and $4.94 shipping fee, and as usual free labor on breaker install courtesy of Rick Eisele. The other A/C unit that cools the offices remains "fried." We continue to work with Parker Heating & Air to get written documentation from them as to what our options are with that unit. It appears those options are "repair" or "replace", and preliminary costs are approx. $2,200 or $4,300 respectively. It also looks like warranties would also be one year parts & labor or 10 years parts & labor respectively. We definitely want to see all of this information "in writing" before anyone gets excited with either option.
We continue to work on our "storage issue.” Any kind of additional temporary or permanent structure will probably involve consulting with the City of Castle Rock and neighbors on both sides of the church property.
Another "project" we are getting closer to finishing is the building of new metal doors for the outside dumpster. The iron materials have been delivered to Max Heacock and the chain link gates will be removed once he has the new steel gates built. This will replace the current eyesore at our entrance and certainly be more stable and secure than our present materials. Anticipate completion probably during Sept. or early Oct. Our free labor people are extremely busy getting their own work done but we remain patient and very appreciative of their help!!
What always seems small of course, but which actually consumes considerable time during our summer months is the mowing and weeding around the church. In this regard, a significant new task is also now our responsibility....the mowing and whacking of the landscape within the new retention pond (Faith Lake) area. This became our legal assignment as a part of the agreement between City of CR and Faith after the initial one year period of completion. AND, since this project ended up entirely on Faith's property, we get to do it all. If anyone is interested in testing their walking, climbing skills while pushing a mower on a very steep incline, your help will be more than welcome. So far, Royce Stein and Tom Reed have been the sole providers for this tremendous effort. A BIG thank you to those guys.
We were also privileged to assist the Preschool staff getting ready to receive the new "kids" that have started school with us. A little painting, some moving around of bulletin boards, some furniture re-arranging, installation of a new dishwasher downstairs, replacing light bulbs, installing new wall/floor molding, etc. They are ALWAYS so appreciative of our little jobs, which only encourages us of course. We love them all.
That's it for now. As always, email or call with any questions or concerns.

The property team is looking for volunteers to help mow and trim this year to keep the property cleaned up and looking good. If you have volunteered in the past, thanks. If you are interested in serving this year, please contact Jerry Wagner or Tom Reed. We have three riding mowers now so the job goes quickly when there are enough drivers. Thanks for considering. Look forward to hearing from you.
