Faith Lutheran School: Preschool & Kindergarten Mission Statement

Faith Lutheran School is committed to the joyful education of young children entwined with the love of God'.
The Faith Lutheran Church community, parents and teachers work together to provide a safe,  loving and nurturing environment allowing each child to grow and develop to his/her fullest potential.

Philosophy and Goals

To support children's growth and development, Faith Lutheran School's learning environment nurtures the whole child.
Teachers provide a variety of developmentally appropriate activities, experiences, and materials that are selected to engage children in active, meaningful learning and to achieve the following goals:
  • kindle Christian faith
  • foster positive self-identity and sense of emotional well-being
  • develop social skills & knowledge-respect and care for self and others
  • encourage children to think, reason, question, and experiment (as used in mathematics, science and social studies)
  • encourage language (speaking, listening) and literacy development (emerging reading, writing awareness and skills)
  • enhance physical development and skills
  • encourage and demonstrate sound health and safety practices
  • encourage creative expression, representation, and appreciation for the arts
  • respect cultural diversity
  • encourage children to see themselves as learners and discoverers
  • gain a comfort level with classroom routines and environment
  • learn that school is a great place to be!

Faith Lutheran School's integrated curriculum provides a wide variety of hands-on experiences through art, science, blocks, music and movement, drama, cooking, outdoor activities and field trips.
The environment, planned with a sense of order and beauty, supports children's desire to learn. A balance of child directed and teacher directed learning activities are included each day. Children use their five senses to experiment, explore and discover. The education of the whole child is a life-long process and an exciting adventure!

Parent Participation

Faith Lutheran School welcomes parent participation in their child's early education. Faith Lutheran School benefits from parents' knowledge of their children and from parents' involvement in the school- from serving on Faith Lutheran's Advisory Board to planning classroom parties or heading up a school service project.  Parents are welcome in their child's classroom at any time, and are encouraged to volunteer regularly.

A Christian Community

Faith Lutheran School is a ministry of Faith Lutheran Church. Since the church's beginnings, Lutherans have emphasized the importance of family and education.  In Galations 5: 22, Paul writes of the fruit of the spirit:  love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.   These Christian and universal  principles  are  modeled  and emphasized in the Faith Lutheran School curriculum.  Faith Lutheran's Pastor visits each classroom once a month to share God's love and tell Bible stories. Faith Lutheran Church extends an invitation to Faith Lutheran School children and their families to explore their  faith,  attend  worship  services, Christian education classes, and participate in Faith Lutheran's fellowship events.
The Faith Lutheran School curriculum incorporates stories, music, art and customs of a variety of faiths and  cultures,  cultivating  respect  and celebrating the diversity of people in our community--and world!

Professional Staff

Staff members  are  selected  for their educational background, early childhood background,  teaching  experience,  and understanding of the development of young children.  All staff participate in continuing early childhood education. Faith Lutheran School staff  are  members  of  the  National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Faith Lutheran is also a member of the  Evangelical  Lutheran  Education Association (ELEA).

Admission Policy

Faith Lutheran School is licensed by the Colorado Department of Human Services, Office of Child Care (#04399), and admits students  of any  race,  color,  gender, religion, and national or ethnic origins, to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded  or  made available to the students at the school. Faith Lutheran School does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, gender, religion, or national or ethnic origins in the administration of its educational policies, admission policies or other school programs.
Faith Lutheran School accepts students with special needs on a case-by-case basis if all parties agree that the school can adequately meet the needs of the student and his/her family.
