| Stewardship
Thought for May… Lawrence L. Durgin wrote: “Christian stewardship is the matching of gift for matchless gift: our life and its whole substance for the gift of perfect love. And though God’s Son and His precious death are matchless—in the strange economy of God our gift returned is made sufficient. My all for His all. Stewardship is your commitment: the asking of God to take you back unto Himself—all that you have and all that you are.” Frank S. Mead, ed. 12,000 Religious Quotation (Grand Rapids: Baker Book House, 1989), 427. |

| IN
THE LIGHT OF GRACE…. I am happy to report that several individuals have agreed to serve on the 2008 stewardship team. In the Light of Grace Program calls for a whole team of folks to coordinate the planning of the campaign to start during the week of May 11 and culminate in a celebration on Sunday, June 15. Here’s a list of the various team roles: Meal planning, Education, Phone calling, Promotion, Accounting, Technology Do any of these sound like they might be right up your alley? We still need more hands to do this work. If you would like more information and/or you would like to be actively involved in planning and rekindle your awareness of God’s loving purpose for giving. Please contact Georgia Van Hoesen via email: georgiavh@earthlink.net or cell phone: 720 352-6296. |

| Rekindle your Awareness of God’s Loving
Purpose for Giving……. In the next few weeks, you should be receiving some important information in the mail regarding the 2008 stewardship program. The stewardship team cordially invites you to participate in mid-week Bible study sessions and other activities geared toward helping you to evaluate how God’s gift of grace relates to your stewardship commitment. As you may already be aware (especially if you attended the April 13th budget meeting and the April 20th congregational meeting), our church is faced with many financial challenges. However, that is just one segment of the stewardship commitment. The stewardship sessions will shed light on some areas of the Christian response to God’s love as we faithfully commit our time, talent and our treasure. All of these things were never ours to begin with…..they were always God’s. When we share these gifts with others, we are only giving back in some small measure what God has given us. At what age does giving start? It’s probably different for each individual, but you can learn more about it at almost any age. The 2008 stewardship program consists of lesson plans for all age groups to be used during midweek soup/study session. It is intended to be used for family activities that can be done at midweek sessions and/or can be part of Christian education in the home. | The Faith Lutheran Endowment Foundation would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to three anonymous donors who have pledged a contribution of over $1,500 during the next year. This will help greatly in growing the overall Endowment Fund so that we can fulfill our mission. The purpose of the Endowment Foundation is to provide a permanent source of funding for future needs of the congregation’s mission and outreach. Funding for these areas comes from member donations and the investment earnings of the Foundation’s principal, which is intended to remain untouched in perpetuity. Please consider contributing to this important part of Faith Lutheran Church. It is easy and any size of donation, large or small, will make a difference. Ways to support the Foundations’ efforts: • A bequest in a will • A donation from an estate plan • Life insurance • Creation of a charitable trust • Purchase of a charitable gift annuity • Gifts of stocks or bonds • Gifts of real estate or other personal property. Currently the Endowment Foundation has one active mission fund “Scholarship” with awards being granted once each year for our seniors going off to college. When the Endowment Foundation exceeds $100,000.00 the Endowment Foundation would like to establish more active mission funds such as: • Community Outreach • Capital Improvements • Special Ministries and • Special Programs so that those areas may receive grants each year as well. If you would like more information, contact Pastor Mike or our Financial Secretary, Brett Paine. |

| FLC Reaches Agreement with Town of
Castle Rock We have reached an agreement with the Town of Castle Rock to construct a regional detention pond on the northeast corner of our property as a part of the Ridge Road widening project (SEACR). Construction is set to begin immediately to relocate utility poles from the east side of Ridge Rd. to our side. Construction updates will be posted on the Property Bulletin Board in the narthex and can also be found online at www.CRgov.com. |

| RIDGE ROAD WIDENING
PROJECT For the last several years we have been talking about the widening of Ridge Road and the extension of Miller Boulevard from Plum Creek to intersect with Ridge, commonly referred to as the Southeast Arterial Connector. Designs have now been finalized and the project is in the bidding process with work to begin as soon as this March (that's only 2 months away folks!) This will impact our property in several ways: 1. Overhead lines on the East side of Ridge Road will be relocated onto our side of the street. 2. Our driveway is being moved @ 300 feet to the North to enter the parking lot at the center. 3. While the Town will provide us with continual access to our property, we may have to dodge heavy equipment and cross uneven, muddy surfaces to get into the lot. This project will undoubtedly create some hassles in the short term so we ask you to be patient and understanding about any resulting inconveniences as work progresses. We will make every effort to keep you informed about what you can expect each step of the way to keep disruptions to a minimum. More details on this project can be found on the Town of Castle Rock website at www.townofcastlerock.org. ![]() |
